Special Needs Community
Summer 2019 Currently Full
Each summer, I create a limited number of spots for meeting with day camps and programs for our special needs community. Working directly with you, I can help create an outdoor education experience tailored to your group that is scalable for differing abilities and interests.
"Last summer we were lucky enough to have Laura Johnson take our summer camp group out for two hikes. During the first one she taught us how to do 'Sound Mapping', and at the second hike she taught us how to do 'Topographical Mapping.' Our camp is for children with developmental disabilities, and Laura picked out spots that would be accessible to most of our kids. She was on time, brought the supplies we would need, and did a great job explaining our project of the day. She even brought a big easel to diagram things! Very professional, knowledgeable, and we all had a wonderful experience. Can’t wait for this summer!"

Past hikes have had themes of animal tracks, forest sounds, nature art, clouds and weather, and mapping. It is my joy to work with large, diverse groups and provide hands-on experiences!
I typically start planning summer events in the early spring - please reach out via email if I can be of help to your day camp program or DDA.
